• Toronto Sewing Meetup Group   - Sew Be It Studio hosts The Toronto Sewing Meetup Group. We meet once a month to share our interests and ideas for future projects. It's pay what you can and all the money is donated to the Toronto Humane Society. Anyone is welcome, whether your interest is sewing, quilting, knitting, beading, or any craft. Skill level is not an issue, but crankiness is.

Fabric Swap Party

After a winter of hibernation and crafting, many of you have boxes and boxes of leftover or unused fabric. We have a way for you to clean out your unwanted fabric supply and have a heart. Fellow artisans and fashionistas can come find fabric, get rid of fabric and have a great time raising funds for a good cause. Our swap parties are not about politely trading one thing for another. Here’s how it works: You bring in all the fabric you are willing to part with. Rummage through your linen closets, hope chests and project boxes and purge all that you can. Then we neatly arrange all the fabric goodies on our studio work tables. You will have a chance to review all the contributions before we all dig in. Then the organized arrangement swiftly turns into rummage chaos. If someone gets that chiffon you were eyeing before you do, you might have to persuade them to trade with you. Join us for a cup of tea and share your fabric foibles at the swap. Get rid of your excess fabric. Trade trash for treasure.  Be inspired by your fabric findings and help raise funds for a good cause.

Knitting For A Good Cause

Due to the success of the first Knitting For A Good Cause, Sew Be It Studio is once again opening its doors to knitters who want to help make a difference in the community.
This night will be about knitting hats, scarves and mittens for the homeless in Toronto.
We welcome all levels of experienced knitters.
We will also be offering very basic beginner knitting lessons to those who need them.
All items made will be donated to Streetknit (www.streetknit.ca) and then distributed to organizations that help keep the homeless warm

Admission is by donation. Experienced knitters should bring/make items for the homeless.
Those who are coming to learn to knit should bring non perishable donations for the food bank.

This event will be a great chance to hang out with other knitters and chat, work on projects and to help those less fortunate during these cold months.

We are also now a donation drop off point for Streetknit. So bring hand knit scarves, hats and mittens by anytime to drop off.

Admission by donation of knit items or non-perishable food items.


Shopping Day - Toronto Textile Tour

We are offering a fun and exciting excursion for fabric fanatics. Come shop for fabric with us on our Fabric Tour of Toronto. During this group outing we will visit and shop at Toronto’s best textile and fabric shops. Whether your interest is fashion, home décor, quilting or accessories, this tour offers something for everyone. There will be loads of information about fabric properties; what works well and what doesn’t; how to buy fabric and notions; there will be group discounts at many of our destinations, and an inspiring group of creative individuals. Receive expert advice, take advantage of our experiences, have your questions answered and never get lost in the world of textiles again!
