Fashion Design Series (age 18 & up) - Pattern drafting

In order to design clothing without the use of commerical sewing patterns, one must learn to draft their own patterns. Pattern drafting is an art that requires attention to detail, structure, and an understanding of how a garment should properly hang on a body. We have created a series of courses to help you master the process and the principles of pattern drafting. Each series is designed to build your drafting skils to a stage where you are comfortable working with measurements to create a three-dimensional garment.

This program is not only created to help you build solid pattern drafting skills, but also to accomodate those of you who have a busy life or can't afford to take time off work to pursue this skill full time.

FASHION DESIGN 101

This is the first level in a two part series on how to design and pattern make your own skirts. Students are taught how to take proper measurements to develop their own personal skirt block. We cover a number of the basic pattern making techniques to create a variety of simple styles. Also, included are waistbands, drafting a pocket, the basic lining and various construction details through samples. At the end of this class you will have pattern drafted and sewn the perfect skirt.

Pre-requisite: Intermediate Sewing

Date: September 20, Mondays, 6weeks
Time: 6pm - 9pm
**No class on October 11 for the long weekend**

Cost: $270.00 + HST
